About our guest:
Elise McCave Based in New York since 2015 and currently Senior Director of Film at Kickstarter, she spent the last decade establishing herself as a champion of independent filmmakers, in the documentary, fiction, and VR spaces.
She has mentored, advised or curated more than 500 film projects with Kickstarter, including Matthew Cherry’s Oscar-winning short “Hair Love,” Rachel Lears’ “Knock Down The House,” Hal Hartley’s “Where To Land,” Alexandre Rockwell’s “Sweet Thing,” forthcoming doc from Dempsey Rice, “The Animated Mind of Oliver Sacks,” and poet Saul Williams’ forthcoming debut, “Neptune Frost.” In March Elise will be curating Long Story Short, inviting filmmakers to launch a short film project on Kickstarter and join a cohort of brilliant, subversive, playful, creatively ambitious creators doing the same.
About our moderator:
Jonathan Melikidse is a Los Angeles transplant, now Maui-based screenwriter, who is a graduate fellow of the Creative Lab Hawai’i – Producers Immersive, and currently a fellow in the Weekend Ideation Program in Micro-Budget Motion Picture Directing program. His horror, thriller, and dramatic scripts dive into often ignored parts of life such as homelessness, mental illness, zealotry, and broken families. “Mama’s Bench,” Jonathan’s directorial debut, is an official selection at the 2020 Made in Hawaii Film Festival. His script “Driftwood” (AFF 2nd Rounder. Nicholl top 10%) is currently in preproduction.
