Are you tired of relying on third-party platforms to hold and manage your bitcoin responsibly? Are you concerned about the security of your assets and the potential for hacking, fraud, or seizure? Do you want to be able to spend your own money without asking for permission? If so, it’s time to take control of your bitcoin keys.

Self-custody, or holding your own private keys, is the most secure way to own and manage your bitcoin. By keeping your keys in your own possession, you eliminate the risk of a third party losing or stealing your assets. You also have full control over your funds, allowing you to make transactions as you see fit. Ultimately, if you don’t hold your own private keys, you don’t really own bitcoin – you just have an IOU.

In this workshop, we will discuss the importance of self-custody and describe various methods for securely storing and managing your own private keys. We will also demonstrate the use of 3 popular hardware wallets (Ledger, Trezor, Coldcard), and cover a few advanced techniques for keeping your keys safe.

The target audience for this workshop is someone who has purchased bitcoin before but is hesitant about taking the next step to private key ownership. Still, even more advanced users can come contribute to the discussion and possibly learn something new.

While this event will be focused exclusively on Bitcoin self-custody, many of the techniques covered are also applicable to the ownership of other digital assets. **However, we won’t be discussing specific characteristics of any altcoins during this workshop.**

This is not a sponsored event, and all expenses have been paid out-of-pocket by our team. In an attempt to recoup some of those costs and ensure our future workshop roadmap is tenable, **there will be an entrance fee to this event. The cost is $20 paid in USD or $15 paid in bitcoin.**
